The Tube at 150: London Underground in pictures
A child stands in front of a projection of an old Tube map at the London Transport Museum. As the network expanded the maps became more complicated and hard to understand, until Harry Beck came up with the iconic schematic map of the London Underground, inspired by electrical circuit diagrams. It was first published in 1933, and although it is not geographically correct the map gives passengers clear information about how to get from one station to another and where to change.
