Survivors of a plane crash on the Caribbean island of San Andres have described as a "miracle" their escape when the Boeing 737 split into three after falling short of the runway.

The Aires jetliner, carrying 127 passengers and crew, was flying in from Bogota, Colombia. Only one passenger died – and that was from a suspected heart attack on her way to hospital. She was named as Amar Fernandez de Barreto, 68.

Otherwise, 119 people were treated for minor injuries. According to one passenger, all was normal as the plane approached the runway. The crash came "out of nowhere". ·
