TORY TURMOIL
David Cameron will reveal a back to work programme for the unemployed at the Tory conference in Manchester today, hoping to take the heat off the EU debate. The party's line on a referendum is in turmoil after the Irish voted to ratify the Lisbon Treaty. The Mole... PILOT PROTESTEuropean pilots are due to stage protests about their working hours. EU law means a pilot can work up to 14 hours a day, while scientists believe they should not exceed 13 hours. There will be no demonstrations in Britain where industrial action by pilots is illegal.

PALIN SHOCKER
Sarah Palin's memoir, Going Rogue: An American Life, has overtaken Dan Brown's latest novel to top the bestsellers list - even though it's not published until mid-November. But questions have been raised about the politics and past associations of her ghostwriter, Lynn Vincent. More... COWELL BASH

MALE CONTRACEPTIVE
Scientists at Edinburgh University are looking for volunteers in southern Scotland to trial a contraceptive injection for men. The man to contact is Professor Richard Anderson. Be warned: it means a jab every two months - in the bottom.

TRACEY'S OFF
Artist Tracey Emin (above) says she's ready to leave Britain to live in France in order to avoid paying the 50 per cent top tax rate due to be imposed from next April. "The French have lower tax rates and they appreciate arts and culture," she said.

WAITROSE VS BECK
Waitrose has joined the long list of companies refusing to advertise with Fox News because of the right-wing presenter Glenn Beck's contention that Barack Obama is "a racist" with "a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture". Waitrose has pulled its ads from the channel, shown in the UK by Sky, after complaints from shoppers.

NIL TO LOVE
The fairytale marriage of former tennis star Chris Evert and golfer Greg Norman - they both left their previous marriages to be together - has fizzled out after only 15 months. Norman's ex-wife Laura Andrassy, said: "They were in the throes of lust and weren't thinking". More...IN THE SOUP
Two contestants for political prat of the week. Labour's Harriet Harman is alleged to have driven into a parked car while on her mobile, and then taken off, saying: "I'm Harriet Harman - You know where you can get hold of me." Tory MP David Amess told a Virgin airline check-in staff that his bags had been packed by Osama Bin Laden. Once at Dulles airport, he threw up at the Immigration desk. It was travel sickness, he insisted, not booze.

ARSENAL TRIUMPH
Arsenal gave one of their occasional master-classes yesterday at the Emirates stadium - coming from behind to beat Blackburn 6-2 - while alumnus Thierry Henry, now playing with Barcelona, looked on. Love these summaries you do...always a few I should know but didn't.

"a jab every two months - in the bottom" - well, look - it could be a lot worse, right?

As an alternative you can have the male contraceptive jab in your foot. It makes you limp! (I wonder will you approve that?)
