Mohamed Salah is set for what The Sun describes as a “double-your-money deal” as Liverpool make every effort to buy his loyalty.

The Egyptian ace has been on fire this season and his 43 goals are a key component in Liverpool’s quest to become champions of Europe. But Salah’s form has also aroused the interest of several of the continent’s big hitters. The Sun claims that Real Madrid, in particular, are “on alert”.

Spooked by such speculation, Liverpool bigwigs are apparently ready to open talks over a “£185,000-a-week offer”.

Salah, who is 25, is currently on a modest £90,000-a-week deal, which is said to be peanuts in comparison with what he could earn at the likes of Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona. Mindful of what happened to Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho, the Reds are determined to avoid the departure of another star name. Negotiations will shortly begin to tie down Salah to a lucrative long-term deal.

The Egyptian has four years to run on his existing contract. The Sun says that Liverpool want to conclude the new deal before the World Cup when his value could increase “even more”.

At the heart of the talks will be Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, a lawyer who is a long-standing friend of the Egyptian. The pair are “happy with Anfield” and Liverpool are quietly confident that over the coming weeks negotiations will be concluded to everyone’s satisfaction.

But what if Real Madrid offered the Reds Gareth Bale in return for Salah and a stack-load of cash? The Daily Star believes this might be one of the Spanish club’s plans. The paper claims that Real president Florentino Perez “wants to sell Bale to Liverpool” rather than let the 28-year-old Welshman end up at either Manchester United or Chelsea.
