Barcelona are reportedly “eyeing a January swoop” for Alberto Moreno amid speculation that the Spanish left-back no longer has a future at Anfield.

The Sun says that the “Liverpool flop” is eager to end his bit-part existence on Merseyside - and Barcelona could be ready to offer him an escape route in the new year.

The European giants want a back-up for first-choice Jordi Alba and are on the tail of Moreno, according to Spanish media.

The left-back has featured only once for Liverpool this season, in the league cup defeat to Chelsea, so “Barca will be confident of landing the 26-year-old”, who is out of contract in the summer, The Sun adds.

Liverpool shelled out £12m in 2014 to bring Moreno in from Sevilla, but the English club could be tempted to sell him for a modest fee in January rather than see him go on a free transfer six months later.

Piatek shrugs off Reds rumours

Liverpool are “weighing up a bumper bid” for Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek, who is also a target for Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, reports the Daily Express.

The prolific Pole has been on a scoring frenzy in Serie A this season, finding the net on nine occasions, and attracting the attention of some of Europe’s powerhouses in the process.

The Express says that the 23-year-old comes with a £30m price tag, but Piatek is determined to keep his feet on the ground.

“When the papers start talking about me what I do is just concentrate on the next training session,” he told Polish media.

Klopp could target Fekir again

Jurgen Klopp is said to have sent his scouts to France to run the rule over Nabil Fekir, in a fresh sign that the Liverpool manager is losing confidence in Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Swiss star arrived at Anfield in a £13m summer move from Stoke City, but he doesn’t appear to have won over everyone, with Daily Express reporting that Klopp is “far from happy with his midfield”.

Hence the interest in Lyon playmaker Fekir, who was first linked to the Reds in the summer, and could become a target at the start of next year.
