James Willstrop's 'double fake' shot leaves opponents reeling and experts gushing praise
SQUASH is enjoying a welcome boost to its profile thanks to an astonishing trick shot nicknamed the 'Double Fake'.
The shot, which has experts reaching for superlatives, has been perfected by the 29-year-old English player James Willstrop. He used it to defeat qualifier Charles Sharpes at the Canary Wharf Squash Classic 2013 in London this week.
But Willstrop has been deploying his double fake for a while, as this video of him using it against Egyptian Ramy Ashour at the North American Open in Virginia last month, proves.
Willstrop told The Sun that all the publicity about his trick shot had made him a bit self-conscious. "I'm trying to do it too often," he admitted. Willstrop is up against another Englishman, Darryl Selby, in the quarter-finals at Canary Wharf today.
