NO ONE DIED but several were injured when a runaway golf cart raced across an American football pitch at the weekend. A group of people were bowled over by the unmanned buggy at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, as Spring Dekaney celebrated their 34-14 win against Cibolo Steele in a high school championship game.

Willie Amendola, head coach of the winning team, was in the middle of an interview when he was knocked over backwards onto the passenger seat of the electric cart. After attempting to gain control of the vehicle, he rolled off the side onto the artificial turf. A field worker then managed to jump on board and turn the engine off.

One man was taken to hospital with a leg injury and several others were checked over by medical staff at the stadium, according to the Daily Mail. It is unknown how the vehicle got loose. Stadium workers were picking up sideline yard markers and pylons after the game when it unexpectedly shot off across the ground. ·
