An earthquake on the Indonesian island is likely to have killed thousands
The tsunami was triggered by an 8.3 magnitude earthquake around 125 miles south of Samoa and its neighbour American Samoa. The waves caused widespread devastation, flattening villages and sweeping people out to sea - as many as 100 are feared dead.
