Major exhibition of artist's work planned after appeal by Sir Ian McKellen
This show of drawings and other preparatory works by Henry Moore is eye-poppingly good. The current world economic armageddon makes the fashionable work seen in recent art fairs suddenly look more superficial than fun - meaning that work with depth, like Moore's, is highly welcome. The drawings here (such as Reclining Figure, 1972 above) are rare and private ones from the collection of Moore's own family, and are not the highly finished presentation drawings we are familiar with.
