Nikon and Canon bring video to SLR
Two digital SLRs that include HD video recording in the bargain
Video is a given on compact cameras these days, but digital SLRs have largely treated it with disdain. Until now. Nikon and Canon, the two biggest names in the camera business, have both just launched stunning new D-SLRs that are not only capable of shooting HD video, but are proud of it too. Nikon's D5000 adds 720 pixel video to an already long list of features, while the Canon EOS 500D goes one better with full HD 1080p. Which is the better camera may be down to personal preference, but one thing is certain: video on the D-SLR is here to stay. ·
