Panasonic H80: solid super-zoom

The perfect starter kit for home film enthusiasts and would-be voyeurs

The H80 is the cheapest of Panasonic's new super-zoom models. It's compact and quick off the mark, which suits its billing as an entry-level point-and-shoot cam. The 70x optical zoom offers silly magnification - we're talking reading books from across the room territory. The bespoke image stabilisation does a good job, but struggles a little at full zoom. Video quality stands up to close scrutiny, and while it's not quite HD it is handily stored on the 60GB hard drive or on SD card. A solid choice for home enthusiasts and aspiring voyeurs alike. ·
