Amanda Rosenberg 'went to same school as Kate & Pippa'
Google employee 'romantically involved' with Sergey Brin was brought up in UK and went to Marlborough
AMANDA ROSENBERG, the 27-year-old Google employee reported to be in a relationship with her company's billionaire co-founder Sergey Brin, is a British woman who went to the same school as Kate and Pippa Middleton, according to the Daily Mail.
Rosenberg, who is the marketing executive in charge of Brin's controversial Google Glass project, attended Marlborough College. Pippa is her senior by two years, Kate by four. She is understood to have an English father and a Hong Kong-Chinese mother who worked as an investment banker.
Rosenberg is at the centre of a Californian media storm since the tech site AllThingsD revealed that Brin, aged 40 and worth an estimated £15 billion, had become "romantically involved" with her after splitting with his wife Anne Wojcicki. A spokesman has since confirmed that Brin and Wojcicki are living separately but "remain good friends and partners".
Brin is not the first senior Google man she has been involved with, say reports. She had an earlier relationship with Hugo Barra, vice-president of Android product management, who is leaving the company to join the Chinese computer firm Xiaomi, which some call "the Apple of China".
Rosenberg has been a Google employee ever since she graduated from Leeds University with a communications degree. She started work for the search engine giant at their London office.
Ewan Butler, 28, an old boyfriend of Rosenberg's from her time at Leeds, told the Daily Mail: "Amanda's a good looking girl, and she knows she is."
Rosenberg joined Google's Californian HQ last year. She became the marketing manager of Google Glass after coming up with the voice command 'OK, Glass' to activate the web-connected spectacles. The device has been hailed as the company's most ambitious project yet – and, because of privacy issues, the most controversial.
Upon arriving in Silicon Valley, a blog post written by Rosenberg appeared online in which she described herself as a "misanthropic Brit struggling to come to terms with Californian optimism".
Sergey Brin has thrown himself into promoting Glass and several photographs show him and Rosenberg together at PR events. As The Independent reports, there is no suggestion that the pair became an item before Brin's separation from Wojcicki. ·
