Oh deer: stag panics high street shoppers – video
Bargain hunters in Chelmsford think they’re seeing things as stag gatecrashes January sales
YOU need to move fast to get a bargain at the sales, but few shoppers in Chelmsford could match the pace of a frightened stag that bolted down the main street.
CCTV footage emerged yesterday of the terrified animal racing down the Essex town’s main shopping street on Sunday before "barging into a pack of startled bargain-hunters", says The Times. The paper says the deer left one woman with a "bleeding head" after trying to jump over her.
Joanna Tyack, 22, of Chelmsford told the paper: "I came out of Superdrug and saw a deer out of the corner of my eye. I thought I was seeing things as it ran into the corner of the high street. It must have been scared of the crowd."
Police set up road blocks, but the animal avoided them, despite dazing itself after running into a plate glass window. It has not been seen since.
