'Manipulative' ex-wife Vicky Pryce set out to 'nail' Huhne

Disgraced politician's ex-wife 'went to newspapers with the speeding ticket story after they split up'

THE EX-WIFE of disgraced cabinet minister Chris Huhne was described in court today as a "manipulative woman" who only revealed to a newspaper that he had lied about a speeding offence in order to get revenge on him after their marriage collapsed in 2010.

On the opening day of Vicky Pryce's trial at Southwark Crown Court, a jury was told that she wanted to "nail" her former husband and "destroy" his career. To achieve this, she told the Sunday Times that, following the speeding offence in 2003, he had forced her to pretend that she had been driving and to take the points on her driving licence to avoid him facing a ban.

The economist's 26-year marriage to Huhne ended in 2010 when he admitted having an affair with his former aide, Carina Trimingham. Pryce, 60, now faces a charge of perverting the course of justice. Unlike Huhne, who pleaded to guilty to the same charge yesterday, Pryce is pleading not guilty and blames Huhne's "marital coercion".

The prosecution, however, argues that she and Huhne "worked together" to make sure he avoided the driving ban after being caught on a speed camera.

As the Daily Telegraph reports, prosecutor Andrew Edis told the court that the episode only came to light after Huhne left his wife for Trimingham.

"There is no doubt at all that Miss Pryce was distressed, but there is also no doubt at all that she was extremely angry and that she wanted some revenge," Edis said. "Her revenge was to pass the story about the 2003 crime to the newspapers so that it would be published in the hope that it would destroy her husband's career as a cabinet minister."

The court was also read a series of emails between Pryce and Sunday Times journalist Isabel Oakeshott, the Evening Standard reports. In one message the journalist asked if her intentions were to "bring Chris down... without seriously damaging your own reputation".

Pryce replied: "I definitely want to nail him more than ever."

The trial continues. ·

...and your point is???

vindictive cow maybe......

An economist called Vicky Price
Regretted an unusual sacrifice.
When a marriage proves ill-starred
Avoid being hoisted by your own petard
Because starring in a Greek tragedy is unwise.

A ruthless woman, such as this, would have had no difficulty in saying 'no'. Her collaboration makes her equally guilty.

Hell hath no Fury...

I doubt that Ms Pryce will care two hoots if she too has to go to jail. She was determined to bring her husband down, and she succeeded. The Mistress is now welcome to what's left of him.

They deserve each other

Let this be a lesson. If you have a loving wife who is prepared to break the law for you, don't fool around. if She has already broken the law to save your skin, you deserve all the bitter vengeance she can muster.
