Chinese official Yan Linkun goes on airport rampage- video

CCTV footage of man erupting at departure gate after missing his flight goes viral

TRAVELLING can be stressful, especially if you have just missed your flight for the second time in a day. And that may explain why Chinese official Yan Linkun, the deputy chairman of the state-owned Yunnan Mining Corporation, lost his cool so spectacularly at China's Kunming Changshui International Airport.

Unfortunately for him, his epic tantrum at the departure gate was caught on CCTV and the footage has now gone viral.

Yan, a prominent member of China's communist party, failed to heed warnings from security staff to calm down during his three-minute freak out. Instead, he slammed his foot into a desk, threw computer keyboards and monitors to the floor and attempted to smash his way through a glass door using a nearby sign.

According to the Daily Telegraph Yan, who wasn't arrested over the eruption but has been suspended from his job, later apologised saying he had been anxious to take his children back to school and lost his temper when he and his family missed two flights. The first plane left as they were having breakfast and the family subsequently missed the last call for the second flight.

A contrite Yan said: "My irrational actions and rudeness have caused some losses to the airport as well as bad effects to the public, so I sincerely apologise to the airport and public. I am willing to compensate."
