Two-time US Open champion Novak Djokovic is through to the semi-finals where he will meet Japan’s Kei Nishikori.

Serbian Djokovic eased past unseeded Australian John Millman in the quarter-finals 6-3 6-4 6-4. Millman knocked out Roger Federer in the previous round but was unable to cause another upset.

Sixth seed Djokovic, who has reached his 11th semi-final in New York, told usopen.org: “All credit to John. He’s a great fighter. He deserves a round of applause, definitely.”

Nishikori reached his third US Open semi-final by beating Marin Cilic in five sets. After his 2-6 6-4 7-6 4-6 6-4 win, Nishikori said: “It’s always a battle with Marin. It was great tennis.”

Defending champion Rafael Nadal will take on third seed Juan Martin del Potro in the other’s men’s semi-final.

Keys to face Osaka

American Madison Keys is the highest-ranked women’s player left in the US Open and she will face Japan’s Naomi Osaka in the last four.

Keys, the 14th seed, beat Carla Suarez Navarro 6-4 6-3 in the quarter-finals while 20th seed Osaka won 6-1 6-1 against Lesia Tsurenko.

“I felt good tonight, I’m really happy to be in the semi-final,” said Keys.

Serena Williams (17th seed) plays Anastasija Sevastova (19th seed) in the other women’s semi-final.
