NRA video slams Barack Obama as 'elitist hypocrite'

Pro-gun lobbyists criticised for referencing Obama's daughters in anti-reform advert

LAST UPDATED AT 16:05 ON Thu 17 Jan 2013

THE National Rifle Association countered President Obama's gun reform launch yesterday with an advertising campaign (see below) labelling him an "elitist hypocrite" because his two daughters receive armed protection.

The online ad criticises Obama for having the Secret Service protect his children while opposing the NRA's call for more armed guards in schools. The powerful lobby group claims the gun reform proposals are "protection for their [Obama's] kids, and gun-free zones for ours".

The White House condemned the inclusion of the president's children in the video as "repugnant and cowardly".
