‘Britain’s back to school shambles’
A round-up of the headlines from the UK front pages
“Britain’s back to school shambles” is the Daily Mirror’s splash this morning as it reports that some pupils will have to wait until after 8 March to get back into the classroom due to Covid testing “chaos”.
The Guardian focuses on news that teachers will be allowed to decide exam grades in England. It says there have been warnings of “extremely high grade inflation” because of a lack of clear guidance on the grading plan that seeks to avoid last year’s algorithm shambles.
Meanwhile, the Financial Times reports that the governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey, has warned the EU that it risks a “serious escalation” in tensions with the UK if it tries to force banks into taking business away from London.
