Learn to cook with Michel Roux Jr
Sign up for Sauce, a new cookery school at The Langham hotel, and practice with a culinary master
Michel Roux Jr will be among the chefs sharing trade secrets at Sauce by The Langham, a new cookery school at the celebrated central London hotel.
The two-Michelin-starred chef, who joined forces with his father at The Langham’s Landau restaurant, will lead a full-day masterclass, teaching participants the skills and techniques required for three of his favourite recipes.
Having prepared each one under his watchful eye, guests will bring the day to an end by eating what they have cooked, along with a glass or two of wine from the Langham cellars.

Roux’s colleagues will also be sharing their expertise: executive chef Chris King will present a range of celebratory dishes from the Roux recipe archive, while executive pastry chef Andrew Gravett will demystify the art of the afternoon tea, based on his experience at The Langham’s Palm Court tea room.
A range of half-day “building block” classes, meanwhile, will offer instruction on core kitchen skills, including pasta-making, stocks and sauces, pastry and knife techniques. All tuition takes place in the hotel’s handsome cookery school, freshly decked out with premium Samsung induction hobs and ovens, Kenwood mixers and Global knives.
“The facilities for the new cookery school are exceptional,” says Roux Jr. “We’re going to have a perfect environment to share our passion for good food with like-minded home cooks at whatever their skill level.
“Cooking should be first and foremost enjoyable, and we’re looking forward to providing a real confidence boost so that everyone can be proud of what they achieve.”
Courses at Sauce by The Langham range from £150 for half-day courses on knife skills or pasta-making to £995 for a full-day masterclass with Michel Roux Jr
