Liverpool face Dortmund and Man City draw PSG in Europe
Jurgen Klopp in showdown with his old team while 'nouveau riche' clubs meet in the Champions League
Manchester City will face French champions Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in a match being billed as a clash of "Europe's nouveau riche" by the BBC.
However, it is Liverpool's Europa League showdown with Borussia Dortmund that has grabbed the headlines as it pits Reds manager Jurgen Klopp (pictured above) against his former club.
It promises to be "an emotional trip back to his old club" for the German, says the Daily Mail. Klopp left Dortmund at the end of last season after seven years spell in charge, during which he won two league titles, the German cup and also reached the Champions League final.
Both English clubs "have been handed formidable obstacles in their quest for European success", says The Times. Dortmund, it adds, "are arguably the toughest possible opponents left in the Europa League", while PSG won the French title last weekend with two months two spare, beating Troyes 9-0.
Manchester City are owned by Sheikh Mansour of Abu Dhabi, while PSG were the subject of a Qatari takeover in 2012. But although the owners of both teams have lavished money on them, neither has managed to conquer Europe, notes the BBC, although this year, one of them will appear in the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time.
City will be away in Paris in the first leg of their tie on 6 April. A day later, Liverpool will also be away in the first leg against Dortmund.
Both competitions will also feature all-Spanish quarter-finals as holders Barcelona face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and defending Europa League winners Seville face Athletic Bilbao.
