Court out by x-ray machines
Security staff at the Boulder County Justice Centre in Colorado have stopped a man smuggling his pet iguana into the building. The reptile was spotted on the building's x-ray machines when its owner was accompanying friends to court. Sheriff's spokeswoman Carrie Haverfield told reporters it's not the first time people have tried to smuggle animals, including dogs, cats and mice, into the building.
Teen girl 'sleeps through carjacking'
A 14-year-old girl has been found alive and well – and asleep – after the car she was in was stolen. Authorities in Houston, Texas, say the teenager's mother was attacked at her home by a group of suspects who were unaware the girl was asleep in the rear seat of the car. The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later, with the teen still asleep and reportedly unaware of the incident.
Armoured truck 'loses' $20,000
Police are searching for more than $20,500 (£14,000) after the rear doors of an armoured truck "popped open" in transit, spilling three large bags of cash onto the road. The bags were struck by passing cars, causing them to burst open and scatter the cash, most of which was blown away by the wind. The owners of the armoured truck are investigating the incident.
