Music choice hits a bum note
The Chicago Cubs baseball team has fired one of its stadium DJs for what they called an "inappropriate music choice" during a game on Sunday evening. The club says the DJ's decision to play The Prodigy's Smack My Bitch Up as pitcher Aroldis Chapman left the mound in the ninth inning showed poor judgement and was in bad taste. Chapman was accused of choking his former girlfriend and firing eight bullets into the wall of his garage in a domestic violence incident in 2015. He had only recently returned from his resulting 30-week ban from baseball.
Wal-Mart worker fights nappy-wearing monkey in parking lot
An employee at US supermarket giant Wal-Mart got into a fight with a nappy-wearing monkey in the car park of the Ohio store where he works. Witnesses say the animal had escaped from its owner and was harassing customers before the employee attempted to catch it. The monkey's owner quickly retrieved the animal and bundled it into a campervan, taking off before police could arrive.
Woman arrested after 'butt dialling' police
A woman is behind bars after accidentally "butt-dialling" Washington State police while she argued with her boyfriend about a crime she had committed. Police chief Steven Stachan told reporters the woman called 911 while her phone was in her pocket, allowing operators to listen in as she and her boyfriend fought over an alleged theft of scratchcards she was involved in. She has been charged with trafficking in stolen property and remains in jail.
