Range Rover and Magnum Photos capture 'Ultimate Vistas'
In an ambitious new project, two industry leaders join forces to showcase some of the world's most breathtaking landscapes
To capture the iconic images they're known for, Magnum photographers have braved the elements and gained access to the world's most remote and treacherous locations. It's fitting, then, that the photo agency has partnered with Range Rover – makers of the all-terrain luxury SUV – to produce Ultimate Vistas, a stunning series of images showcasing some of the most dramatic landscapes on earth.
The first in the series sees photographer Jonas Bendiksen of Norway explore the epic topography of his home country, beginning in Oslo, where he and his team captured the city's innovative architecture. From there, they travelled through the Dovre mountains via the hair-raising switchback roads of the Trollstigen, conquered the snow-covered plateaux and vast fjords of Geiranger and visited the beautiful town of Alesund, with its Art Nouveau buildings.
The entire expedition was completed in a production Range Rover TDV6 Autobiography, which transported Bendiksen, his crew and their equipment. The off-the-beaten-track vantage points required for the photographs were achieved using Range Rover's intelligent technology, Terrain Response 2, which automatically selects the right driving mode for the terrain and optimises the vehicle's settings for the conditions.
"I love trips I can do entirely by driving," said Bendiksen. "When I'm on the road, I can stop anywhere and capture an opportunity in an instant. The Range Rover was the perfect partner for me in that respect.
Further locations for the Ultimate Vistas series will include the United States and China.
