Former 'It girl' Tara Palmer-Tomkinson dies at 45

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson has died at the age of 45, months after revealing she was battling a brain tumour.

Police confirmed they were called by the London Ambulance Service at around 1.40pm today to an address in Bramham Gardens, London.

"A woman, aged in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed," said a spokesperson.

"The death is being treated as unexplained. At this early stage, police are not treating the death as suspicious. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing. The coroner has been informed."

Last November, Palmer-Tomkinson revealed she had been taking medication for a non-malignant growth since January but believed it had gone away.

She told the Daily Mail: "I went to the doctors to talk about my latest blood test results when I got back from skiing in January. I said, 'What does this mean? Can you translate it?' And the doctor said, 'As I suspected, you have a brain tumour.'

"I got terribly frightened. I started thinking, 'I'm going to die, I'm going to die. I've only got a couple of weeks to live.' Stuff like that."

The former socialite, whose father Charles was a close friend of Prince Charles, made headlines for her party lifestyle and struggled with a cocaine addiction in her 20s. She also took part in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, among other reality television shows.
