Beyonce 'breaks the internet' with photo of twins

The singer's 'Botticelli-inspired' Instagram shot of her newborns garners 5m likes in 5 hours

Beyonce Knowles posted the first photos of her newborn twins on Instagram this morning, and having shunned the media spotlight during her pregnancy, it seems the singer has unleashed a tide of pent-up idolatry.

The photo - described by The Guardian as "Botticelli-inspired and floral-heavy" - amassed five million likes within five hours, and the numbers continue to climb. The Daily Telegraph declared that Beyonce had "broken the internet". 

She is shown wearing a blue veil, draped in fabric and cradling her one-month-old twins. Behind her is an array of flowers and beyond them the ocean. the image she posted to announce her pregnancy in February.
