This year's best Christmas jumpers for women
Knits from these luxury brands will take your Christmas party up a notch
For many years - nay, decades - the Christmas jumper was seen as the naffest item of clothing in even the most respectable wardrobe. But the festive woollen jumper is gaining popularity and fast becoming a less ironic staple of the season. Here is a pick of the most stylish Christmas jumpers for 2018:
ALEXACHUNG
ALEXACHUNG, the eponymous fashion line by writer and model Alexa Chung, is offering a gorgeously understated - and surprisingly affordable - Christmas jumper for the 2018 holiday season.

The tasteful navy wool piece is adorned with white horses and ribbed trims. “We can just see the designer herself sporting this winter warmer with shorts and flats, then switching to jeans or tailored trousers when the weather's cooler,” says fashion site Lyst.
£195; net-a-porter.com
Brora
More of a year-round jumper with a holiday tinge, this delightful Brora mohair-blend sweater is made with optimum comfort and warmth in mind.
Available in a number of different colours, it could be paired with smart or casual outfits, and the Fair Isle detailing around the neckline is a feminine take on a classic Icelandic design.
£145; Brora
Comme des Garcons Girl
For those who prefer a more outlandish outfit, the Comme des Garcons Girl Christmas design makes use of “playful pom poms” dotted around the jumper in order to “juxtapose silhouettes and textures” - a hallmark of its designs, Net-a-Porter says.
The site also recommends that those lucky enough to be in possession of this eccentric jumper recreate the style of Comme des Garcon’s creative director Rei Kawakubo and “wear yours with a midi skirt”.
£335; Comme des Garçons
Fendi
The Christmas jumper collection from Italian luxury fashion house Fendi features striking yet playful detailing, with vibrant colours and needlework complementing the subtle, muted tones of the sweater.
The roll-neck wool-blend jumper, though by no means cheap, is an ultra-chic choice crafted from a blend of 70% and 30% cashmere. It features a contrasting blue logo and heart jacquard around the neck and shoulders and a colourful zigzag for eye-popping colours.
According to Matches Fashion, “the Queen of Hearts is the motif and inspiration” behind this piece, which is part of Fendi's wider Pre-AW18 collection.
£1,190; Fendi
The Reeds x J.Crew
For this collection of cosy numbers, J.Crew has teamed up with Brooklyn-based designer Wendi Reed, famed for her unique redesigns of vintage sweaters.
Reed was inspired by the 2001 Wes Anderson comedy The Royal Tenenbaums to create the collection, which Elle describes as a “timeless aesthetic with a fun twist”. With a range of different colours and styles to choose from, this set is sure to satisfy your Christmas sweater itch, no matter your taste.
£85-140; JCrew.com
