Turn End Trust in Partnership with Waddesdon Manor, Aylesbury

This tour includes a look around the incredible Flint House – a flint stonework masterpiece commissioned by Lord Rothschild and winner of the 2015 Riba House of the Year Award – and the Windmill Hill archive building. Both are on the Waddesdon Estate, home to Waddesdon Manor, which was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild between 1874 and 1885. Led by Pippa Shirley, Waddesdon's head of collections and gardens, and head archivist Catherine Taylor, the day will also include a private screening of documentary Turn End, which tells the story of a group of three modern houses (The Turn, Middle Turn, Turn End) built in the 1960s in the village setting of Haddenham by architect Peter Aldington, along with a now Grade II* listed garden.

Secrets of 66 Portland Place, London

Fancy a snoop around the Grade II* listed HQ of the Royal Institute of British Architects (Riba)? Book a Saturday guided building tour where dedicated guides will spend an hour walking you through the history and design of this landmark building, and the important work Riba does to champion great architecture. From Cathedral to Commerce, London

Celebrating the London skyline's mix of old and new, this City walking tour explores the history versus glass-covered modernity of the financial district's architecture, where the imposing 1930s Bank of England building shares a neighbourhood with the shimmering Gherkin. Starting from the City of London Information Centre, next to St Paul's Cathedral, an architectural historian and conservation advisor will guide this two-and-a-half hour walk, culminating at Liverpool Street.

Dean Village, Edinburgh

Take a two-hour stroll around Edinburgh's Dean Village – a green oasis hiding just outside the city on the banks of the Water of Leith river. Once a hub for the area's flour milling, the village provided food for Edinburgh from around the 12th century, and remnants of the industry can still be seen today. After an introduction to the history of Edinburgh's medieval villages, this tour will check out Victorian mews housing, walk around red-bricked Arts and Crafts Victorian social housing, and take in the 1830s stonework of Dean Bridge, designed by Thomas Telford (this was his last major work).
