American Airlines confirms UFO encounter

American Airlines has claimed that a flight between Cincinnati and Phoenix had a near miss with a missile-like unidentified flying object (UFO). The crew of American Airlines Flight 2292 say the UFO buzzed past them as they passed over New Mexico. In a radio message from the plane’s cockpit, since confirmed by the airline, the pilot said: “I hate to say this but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile type of thing - moving really fast right over the top of us.”

Woman given compensation for housework

A woman has been granted compensation for the housework that she did during her marriage. A court in Beijing awarded Ms Wang 50,000 yuan (£5,460) for five years of unpaid labour she was considered to have done for her now ex-husband, Mr Chen. Under a new law in China, a spouse is entitled to seek compensation in a divorce if he or she bears more responsibility in child raising, caring for elderly relatives and assisting partners in their work.

Mr Pidgeon catches a pigeon

A man called Pidgeon brought merriment to an online meeting of a Northern Ireland Assembly’s Finance Committee when his cat appeared and presented him with a pigeon. Colin Pidgeon was speaking remotely when his pet appeared with the bird. “I have literally just caught a pigeon, I’m really sorry about this”, he informed Assembly members watching from Belfast. The bird was released unharmed.
