Arsenal £28m Sanchez deal 'good as done' as agent flies in

Reports from Brazil say Wenger is close to landing Chilean winger in £28m deal

Just like Brazil's reputation as a football superpower, Arsenal's efforts to bring Chile star Alexis Sanchez to the Emirates are "as good as done", claims TalkSport.

But while Brazil must endure the humiliation of a 7-1 thrashing by Germany, the Gunners can look forward to watching the Chilean winger in action at the Emirates. An excited Stan Collymore tweeted from Brazil last night: "We just spoke to Wenger here, deal is as good as done with Sanchez! From the horses mouth!"

It is rumoured that the prized attacker will move to north London for €35m (£28m) and ink a four-year contract with the Gunners. The deal could be finalised by end of today.

An even more reputable source, the Evening Standard, confirms the news as it claims that the player's agent is in London to finalise terms with the Gunners.

The reported outlay on Sanchez would take the traditionally cautious club's spending this summer to £40m if the long-rumoured transfer of full-back Mathieu Debuchy also goes ahead.

And the Newcastle United right-back, who seems to have been on the brink of a move to the Gunners since the dawn of time, could also be joined on the new faces list by his fellow French international Loic Remy, says the Mirror, as the purse strings are loosened in the red and white half of north London.

However, one long term target who is not likely to turn out for Arsenal is Julian Draxler. The German, who somehow failed to score against Brazil on Tuesday despite being on the pitch for a full 15 minutes, could though trot out at the Emirates in Tottenham white, according to the Daily Star.

The paper claims that the Lilywhites are lining up a £17m offer for the player, which even it accepts is not going to persuade Schalke to sell.

Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal's first opponent as Manchester United boss could be Patrice Evra's wife. The left-back's missus is understood to be keen for a move to a new country and wants her husband to talk to Juventus, who are willing to offer him a two-year deal worth £55,000-a-week after tax, according to the Daily Mail.

But Van Gaal wants the 33-year-old to stay at Old Trafford, which leaves the United captain stuck somewhere between a rock and a hard place.

And if epic power-struggles are your bag, then Yaya Toure's stand-off with Manchester City promises plenty.

Manchester City are absolutely determined to keep him at the club as rumours spread that he is equally determined to leave. The Daily Mail channels reports in the French press suggesting Toure urgently wants out, with Paris Saint-Germain his most likely destination.

However, Le Parisien suggests that Manchester United and Chelsea are also hovering, declares the Mail, ready to pounce for the disgruntled star, who has had a series of fallings out with City this year.

Finally, according to the Daily Telegraph, West Ham United have been told that they must increase their offer of £9.5m for Ukraine winger Yevhen Konoplyanka. The initial Hammers' bid fell far short of the £12m buy-out clause in the contract of the wide-man, once a target of Liverpool, who currently turns out for Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
