Top five Arsenal signings to replace Alexis Sanchez – in pictures

The Chilean international looks set to leave the Emirates this summer after another frustrating campaign, so who will replace him?

It has been a trying season for Arsenal fans with mutiny in the terraces, confusion in the boardroom and disappointment on the pitch. But if that wasn't enough the Gunners' problems continue to mount with superstar Alexis Sanchez set to leave the Emirates this summer.

Manager Arsene Wenger has persuaded the Arsenal board to "shatter their wage structure," says the Evening Standard and offer Sanchez a £300,000 a week new contract in a desperate last ditch attempt to keep the Chilean.

But Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are all waiting in the wings to secure the services of Sanchez for next season with reports in the Chilean press saying the forward was keen to link up once more with his old Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

With that in mind, Wenger (or whoever is in charge of Arsenal this summer) must set about looking for a replacement and the Gunners are already being linked with a host of top talent.

Here's a list of the bookies frontrunners to replace Sanchez at the Emirates.

Andrea Belotti: 3/1

The name that is supposedly top of Wenger’s list is Italian wonderkid, Andrea Belotti, who has been firing in the goals for Torino in Serie A this season. But with Chelsea reportedly having failed in an £85m move for the striker, it looks like Wenger will have to break the bank if Belotti is going to be at the Emirates next season.

Wilfried Zaha: 4/1

Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha is enjoying (another) breakthrough season with a stellar performance in his side's win over Chelsea reportedly catching Wenger's eye. Interest in the Ivory Coast international has skyrocketed and Zaha's speed and footwork would suit Arsenal’s fluid style of play. The young forward would also jump at the chance to try his hand at the highest level again, after a disappointing single season with Manchester United.

Marco Reus: 8/1

Another player that could replace Sanchez is Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus. A familiar name from transfer windows gone by, Arsene Wenger has always had an interest in signing the German international and Reus would seemingly be a like-for-like replacement. But Reus's lack of playing time this season as well as Wenger's experience with another free-scoring German, Lukas Poldoski, who failed to fire at the Emirates may prompt the Frenchman to look elsewhere.

Ousmane Dembele: 10/1

Teenage sensation, Ousmane Dembele is grabbing the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs. Young, fast and with bags of potential, the Frenchman ticks all the boxes of a potential Wenger recruit. But the teenager may already be out of Arsenal's price range as "Dortmund will be reluctant to sell a young player with incredible potential,” according to BetStars Director of Trading Ian Marmion.

Ross Barkley: 14/1

Recent indiscretions aside, the England international has had one of his best seasons for Everton and could provide the spark Arsenal desperately need for next season's title bid. The Toffees would be reluctant sellers, but with Romelu Lukaku set to depart as well, it may be difficult for Everton to persuade Barkley to stay. Wenger has been keen to buy British in the past and there are few better than the young blue in the last third.
