Today’s back pages: Man Utd’s Ole inquest and Pogba wants Real Madrid talks

A round up of the sport headlines from UK newspapers on 26 April

Manchester United’s troubles continue to fill the back pages of the UK newspapers as the pressure builds on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Wednesday’s 2-0 home defeat in the Manchester derby was United’s seventh loss in nine games. The result leaves them sixth in the Premier League table and at risk of missing out on qualification for next season’s Uefa Champions League.

There’s an “Ole inquest” at Old Trafford, says the Daily Mail, with reports that United chief Ed Woodward held “crisis talks” with the manager and his assistant Mike Phelan.

It’s not just the Man Utd boss who is making the headlines, but also star players Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.

The Times reports that Pogba wants talks with Real Madrid while The Sun, with its headline “Pog’s dinner”, claims that the Frenchman is “tearing apart” the Old Trafford dressing room.

Belgian striker Lukaku also looks set for the exit. The Daily Express says that the £80m flop “likes the Luk of Italy”.

Premier League title race: three games to go

The fight for the Premier League title goes on tonight as Liverpool host Huddersfield at Anfield. The Daily Star’s back page quotes Reds manager Jurgen Klopp who says that “destiny can still hand us the crown” while in The Guardian the Anfield boss compares the title race to the 1980s film Highlander.

Running feud

The ongoing dispute between Mo Farah and Haile Gebrselassie rumbles on and the story makes the Daily Mail’s front page today. A shocked victim has claimed that Farah “punched me in the gym” but the British Olympic star insists he “didn’t start it”. Meanwhile, The Daily Telegraph reveals the story behind the Farah feud.
