Holders Liverpool have been drawn against Atletico Madrid in the first knockout stage while Man City take on Real Madrid.
Tottenham and Chelsea both have German opposition in the last 16. Last season’s beaten finalists Spurs are drawn against RB Leipzig and Chelsea have a huge tie against Bayern Munich.

In the other games Borussia Dortmund face Paris Saint-Germain, Atalanta take on Valencia, Lyon play Juventus and Napoli face Barcelona.

The Champions League round of 16 first legs will take place on 18-19 and 25-26 February 2020. The second legs are on 10-11 and 17-18 March. All matches kick-off at 8pm and will be live on BT Sport.

Reactions to the draw
Atlético Madrid vs. Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager: “It’s an interesting draw. Before the draw I actually thought it would be Madrid – either one of the two clubs – and that’s the way it is. Madrid is the place where we only have fantastic memories, all of us, so that’s great, but this time we play Atletico there and it’s their home ground.
“It’s a tough one, but if you go through all of the draws, there are pretty much four or five potential finals already in the last 16.
“So, really, really good; a good draw, a difficult game like it should be, but how we most of the time think and say, I don’t think Mr Simeone is running through his living room and is happy that he got Liverpool.
“It will be a tough game. Two teams who are used to playing intense football, different styles and slightly different organisation of course, but both are ready for intensity and that makes it pretty tough for both.”
Real Madrid vs. Manchester City
Txiki Begiristain, Man City director of football: “It is a difficult one, of course. Real Madrid have won 13 times so they are the best. We want to be the best so we want to beat them. It is always a pleasure to go to Real Madrid and play in big stadium like the Bernabeu. We know what we are going to face but they know our team and our manager too. I think we have to keep connected to all of the competitions and we will have chances to win some. In the league, Liverpool are many points ahead but we have to be connected.”
Lyon vs. Juventus
Pavel Nedvěd, former Juventus player: “We can’t complain, considering that last year we drew Atlético, but if you’re not in form when the Champions League comes back around between February and March, there is little that you can do. The precedents are favourable to us, but they do not count for anything, only the form in the moment counts.”
Rudi Garcia, Lyon head coach: “It’s a great challenge to take, a real pleasure to host them [Juventus]. We’re in the top 16 teams in Europe [and we’re happy for that]. Miralem Pjanić [former Garcia player at Roa, former Lyon player, now at Juve] is a person with great quality, incredibly skilled. He is a big strength of Juventus. Happy to welcome Maurizio Sarri. He is a very good coach, with a lot of experience.”
Chelsea vs. Bayern Munich
Thomas Müller, Bayern forward: “Now we know which team we have to deal with. We expected it to be a team of European top quality. But we are very confident, I am okay with that draw. Nevertheless, Chelsea has players who can be very dangerous, like [Christian] Pulisic or [Callum] Hudson-Odoi.”
Manuel Neuer, Bayern goalkeeper: “We watched the draw with the team. We are looking forward to London. We made some great experiences there. Surely you think of the final 2012 in Munich. They are a dangerous team, which we have to take seriously. We have to deliver a highly concentrated performance, but want to move to the next round.”
Tottenham Hotspur vs. RB Leipzig
Markus Krösche, RB Leipzig sporting director: “It was obvious that we’d get a big club. That is normal at this stage of the competition. But we will do everything we can to qualify for the next round.”
Julian Nagelsmann, Leipzig coach: “Spurs is very nice and exciting! They are a top team in Europe, in a fantastic city, with world stars who have experienced a lot. Of course it won’t be easy. But we are really looking forward to it – especially the stadium.”
Borussia Dortmund vs. Paris Saint-Germain
Marco Reus, Dortmund forward: “A great matchup for both the players and fans. Our goal is to advance to the next round!”
Atalanta vs. Valencia
Antonio Percassi, Atalanta president: “The draw could have been worse. In my opinion Valencia was the best possible option for us to deal with, then we’ll see how it goes.”
Napoli vs. Barcelona
Gennaro Gattuso, Napoli head coach: “A great team, a great challenge, two fascinating races. We will face them [Barcelona] without fear.”
