Chelsea transfer news: £70m for Lukaku, £45m for Insigne

League champions inch closer to landing their former front man and ponder a move for Napoli star

Romelu Lukaku has been busy posting photographs of his summer holiday on social media, reports the Daily Mail, but behind the scenes the Everton striker is edging closer to signing for Chelsea.

The paper claims that the 23-year-old Belgian striker "has told his advisers to seal a return to former club Chelsea", and that's music to the ears of the Premier League champions who are set to "ramp up their interest" in Lukaku as a result.

The striker left Stamford Bridge for Goodison Park in 2014 in a £28m deal, and it's reported that Chelsea are negotiating a fee with the Toffees, with £70m thought to be the asking price.

And might the Blues make a move for another striker given that Diego Costa is almost certain to leave the Bridge in the coming weeks? According to the London Evening Standard, Chelsea are also circling Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne with the 26-year-old described as a "£45m summer target".

Conte has had Insigne scouted several times this year and the striker did himself no harm by scoring 18 goals and conjuring nine assists for the Serie A outfit. A report in The Sun earlier this week mentioned Chelsea's interest and the possibility of a £45m bid, but Insigne's agent, Franco della Monica, had his to say about the story during an interview with Italian broadcaster Radio Kiss Kiss: "I would start by saying the offer reported in The Sun would be low and he has always been in the sights of many clubs."

Refusing to be drawn on the likelihood of a move to London, Della Monica insisted that for the time being his client is "happy" in Italy.
