Chelsea launch incredible raid on Man City for Sergio Aguero

Blues are desperate for a new hitman and Guardiola may be willing to offload his Argentine striker

After missing out on Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea are preparing an incredible swoop for Manchester City hot-shot Sergio Aguero as they desperately search for reinforcements up front.

The story sounds far-fetched, even though Chelsea are linked almost daily with new strikers following Diego Costa’s bust-up with manager Antonio Conte. Yet The Sun, citing Spanish journalist Manu Sainz as its source, says City boss Pep Guardiola is happy for the deal to go ahead.

Aguero is one of the Premier League’s finest goal-scorers and has netted 169 times in just 253 appearances during six years at City. But despite his clinical finishing, he was not always guaranteed a starting place in the City line-up last season. He was dropped on several occasions for Gabriel Jesus who seemed to be Guardiola’s preferred choice up front.

Chelsea have been frustrated so far this summer in their search for a striker and their hopes of signing Andrea Belotti have taken a backward step.

AC Milan are now favourites to sign the 23-year-old forward from Torino, says The Sun citing Calciomercato as its source.

Rumours about Belotti’s future intensified when he failed to appear in a team photograph to promote the new kit and it seems he is impressed by AC Milan’s ambitious team rebuilding project.

As things stand, Chelsea are woefully short of strikers with the season less than a month away. Costa is surely on the way out after being pictured partying in Brazil dressed in an Atletico Madrid shirt.

That leaves Michy Batshuayi, who struggled to get game time until late last season, as Conte’s only recognised forward.

His attempt to sign Romelu Lukaku was hijacked by Manchester United and little progress has been made in the pursuit of Alvaro Morata. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be available for £70m.

There is some good news for Blues fans as Chelsea have reportedly agreed personal terms with Real Madrid star Danilo.

The Sun, citing Globo Espar as its source, claims Chelsea are confident of sealing a transfer after entering advanced negotiations over the right-back’s transfer fee. He would provide valuable competition for Victor Moses, currently Chelsea’s only right-sided defender.
