David Hasselhoff is selling his replica of the famous Knight Rider K.I.T.T. car and promising to personally deliver it to the buyer. The custom '82 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is going under the hammer at auctioneers in Calabasas, California. Bids have already reached $375,000 (£275,000) - some $75,000 higher than the upper estimate - with 18 days to go until the hammer falls.
Plague killed off ancient civilisation
New genetic evidence suggests that Ancient Siberians were killed off by a mysterious plague. Researchers from Stockholm University have concluded that swathes of the population in northeast Asia died as a result of plague bacterium which somehow made its way to Siberia. The team extracted DNA from the remains of 40 human skeletons excavated in parts of eastern Siberia.
A second may be removed from day
Scientists are considering removing a second from time because the planet is rotating so fast. Time keepers say that Earth is currently spinning at the quickest pace in 50 years, and this means that the days are slightly shorter. Therefore, said one: “It's quite possible that a negative leap second will be needed if the Earth's rotation rate increases further.”
