Video: Wayne Rooney scores wonder free-kick for DC United in the MLS

Former Man Utd and England striker now has ten goals in 18 matches

Wayne Rooney has continued his superb form for DC United in Major League Soccer (MLS) by scoring a wonderful free-kick against Toronto FC.

After joining from Everton in June, the former England and Manchester United striker has now scored ten goals in 18 appearances for DC United, who are chasing a place in the MLS play-offs. When he arrived DC United were bottom of the Eastern Conference.

Rooney’s long-range stunner was the only goal in the victory over Toronto.

Football fans and pundits on both sides of the Atlantic have been full of praise for the way the 32-year-old has started his MLS career.

The BBC’s Match of the Day Twitter account posted that Rooney is showing “he’s still got it” while Man Utd fan blog the Red Devil Bible says he is “absolutely balling in the United States”.

With a fourth successive win extending DC United’s unbeaten run to eight matches, the Washington-based side can clinch an MLS play-off spot if they beat New York City FC on Sunday.
