Best power tools to use in the garden

Kit to help you tidy and maintain your outdoor spaces

Gardening may not seem like an obvious wintertime activity but there are still plenty of jobs to be done out there at this time of year.

Husqvarna 120iB battery blower kit

Great for clearing large open lawns, this leaf blower has a wide tube and plenty of power. You can also quickly and easily reduce the power if required by switching to a different mode.

Bosch Advanced Hedge Cut AHS 70-34

Especially easy to use, this corded trimmer cuts through substantial branches with ease, leaving neatly sliced stems behind. It has a long 70cm blade, so is best for larger hedges.

Kärcher LTR 18-30 cordless grass trimmer

A grass trimmer like this is useful for tackling parts of the lawn that a mower can’t reach. This cordless model has a telescopic handle and a pivoting head for awkward angles, and should run for up to 30 minutes on one charge.

Batavia Maxxheat 2000W 4-in-1 weeder

This odd-looking gadget is a thermal weed gun. You use it to clear weeds without having to use herbicides, which can damage the environment. The Batavia Maxxheat can double up as a lighter too.

Nilfisk C135 pressure washer – 1700W

You can use this 115 bar pressure washer to clean anything from stonework and decking, to greenhouses and vehicles. It’s loud and heavy, but has a built-in trolley and a convenient 8 metre-long hose, as well as several nozzle attachments.
