Jose Mourinho to extend stay at Manchester's Lowry Hotel

Old Trafford boss could stay at Salford five-star for rest of his three-contract, say reports

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is to take a complete break from football this summer, but he will not spend his free time finding a place to live in Manchester after choosing to continue his residency at the Lowry Hotel.

He has been living at the five-star hotel since taking over at Old Trafford last summer at a cost so far of £150,000, although the Daily Mirror says United "have no issue with him seeing out the whole of his contract in a £411-a-night suite".

If he were to do this, the bill for the three-year term would come to £500,000.

"His wife and two children remain at his London mansion and he checked into the hotel after signing for the club before the beginning of the season," says the Mirror. "The club picked up the tab for the first weeks of his stay but refused to comment on whether they are still paying Jose's monster bill."

Mourinho is believed to be living in one the Salford hotel's "six luxury Riverside Suites", says the Daily Mail, which claims they cost an average of £816 a night.

However, adds the paper, he is "thought to have a greatly-reduced rate due to his long-term stay, in what the hotel describe to be the largest suites in the city at 90 square metres".

Rooms at the Lowry Hotel have all mod cons and are "packed with technology, including two Smart TVs, high-speed broadband and two direct-dial telephones with voice messaging", it continues.

In addition, Mourinho can even process transfer paperwork from his room if he so wishes. "There is also an ethernet dataport and a connection for a fax machine, with guests given the machine itself on request," says the paper.

"The one issue Mourinho, who has food delivered to his room, is said to have found during his year-long stay, is a slight Wi-Fi problem."
