Jurgen Klopp and Virgil van Dijk are ‘priorities’ for Real Madrid and Barcelona

Spanish giants linked with Liverpool’s manager and star defender

Real and Barca eye Anfield duo

Reports in Spain claim that Real Madrid and Barcelona are both lining up a double raid on Anfield for two of Liverpool’s prized assets.

Spanish newspaper AS says that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and star defender Virgil van Dijk are both “priorities” for the La Liga giants, who see the duo as key additions to bring back European glory.

Off the pitch Klopp led the Reds to Champions League success last season while on the pitch Van Dijk was Liverpool’s star performer. Dutch centre-half Van Dijk is now being tipped to win the Ballon d’Or.

This season the Anfield side have continued their winning form and currently lead the Premier League table with five successive victories.

Neither Zinedine Zidane nor Ernesto Valverde are “living their best moments” in Madrid and Barcelona respectively, says AS, and both Spanish clubs are already considering possible alternatives.

The Daily Star, citing the AS report, adds that Real and Barca have “seen their standards already slip this season and there are worries that their status as European powerhouses is depleting”.

Kante to join former Blues at Real?

Another Premier League star regularly linked with a move to Spain is Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.

In the past couple of seasons Real Madrid have signed Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea and now they want a Stamford Bridge hat-trick.

The Athletic says that Blues midfielder Kante is on Zinedine Zidane’s wish list of targets to bring to the Bernabeu in 2020.

Last week it was also reported that Kante and fellow French World Cup winners Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba are wanted by Zidane to form a “new dynasty” in the Spanish capital.
