Arsenal face Spurs as Capital One Cup throws up local derbies

First north London showdown comes next month and Aston Villa are drawn against Birmingham

The first north London derby of the season has been brought forward by six weeks after Arsenal and Spurs were drawn against each other in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

The two sides will now meet at White Hart Lane on 22 or 23 September in the third round of the competition. Their first league meeting is not due until 8 November.
