Man Utd transfer news: Los Angeles FC move for Ibrahimovic

A plan has been hatched Stateside to lure Zlatan Ibrahimovic away from Old Trafford, reports the Daily Mail.

The paper claims that the 35-year-old Swedish striker "will be offered a £5 million-a-season deal to become the face of new MLS side Los Angeles FC". But fear not United fans. The Mail adds that the deal will include an option of an immediate loan back to Old Trafford for next season.

Ibrahimovic's future has been the subject of fevered speculation in recent weeks and with good cause, according to the Mail. Mindful of the veteran's wish to test himself one more time in Europe, Los Angeles will offer him the chance to make stacks of cash while returning to United for the bulk of next season, before joining them in March next year for their debut in the MLS.

A channel of communication has been opened up between Paris Saint-Germain star Serge Aurier and Jose Mourinho, claims The Sun, with the paper reporting that the defender has told the Special One "he wants to play for Manchester United".

The 24-year-old right-back, who comes with a £16m price tag, has been scouted by Mourinho for a number of months as he looks to bolster his back four in the summer.

Taking French sports daily L'Equipe as its source of information, The Sun says that the Ivory Coast international is "also a target for Manchester City" but that Mourinho is determined to beat his neighbours to the prize.

Having decided that Matteo Darmian, Phil Jones, and Chris Smalling aren't up to standard, the United manager will overlook Aurier's well-publicised off-field antics and bring him to Old Trafford.

Man Utd transfer news: Ashley Young in summer exit?

19 April

There is renewed speculation in The Sun that Ashley Young could be about to call time on his Manchester United career.

The winger captained United to victory over Chelsea on Sunday but that could be the last act in an Old Trafford career stretching back six seasons.

The Sun says that the United wideman "snubbed a move to China in February" but he may not remain loyal to the club in the summer.

"I'm not too sure," the 31-year-old said, when asked about his plans for next season. "There is always speculation, especially when there is a transfer window and you’re not playing. But I have always said that I want to play as much as possible."

Young has a year left to run on his current United deal but it's believed that boss Jose Mourinho is about to launch what The Sun calls a "major squad overhaul", which could include the departure of the veteran winger.

Elsewhere the Daily Mirror says that Mourinho "has joined the queue of clubs for Michael Keane".

The 24-year-old defender was actually a United player three years ago before the then manager Louis van Gaal decided to offload him to Burnley in a £2.5m transfer.

But, according to the Mirror, Mourinho is ready to pay £30m to bring Keane back to Old Trafford. Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea and Tottenham have all been looking at the England centre-half but United hope their past connections can convince Keane to give them another try.

Man Utd transfer news: Real Madrid to swop James Rodriguez for David de Gea

18 April

Los Galacticos hope to 'sweeten' deal to land keeper – all the latest Man Utd transfer news and gossip

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is ready to offload James Rodriguez to Manchester United, says the Daily Star.

According to the newspaper, the Spanish giants hope that in doing so they can "sweeten a potential deal" for David de Gea.

The United goalkeeper has long been a target for Real and they believe they will be able to prise the Spaniard from Old Trafford in return for the Colombian playmaker.

Rodriguez cost Real £60m in the summer of 2014 but he's been eclipsed at the Bernabeu by Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, and now the club is ready to offload him. Spanish publication Diario Gol claims Perez "wants to sell" Rodriguez to United in the hope it will facilitate a deal for De Gea.

Still in Spain and Don Balon reports that United are ready to bid big in their pursuit of Yannick Carrasco this summer.

Apparently Jose Mourinho is a fan of the 23-year-old Atletico Madrid star and the Belgian international is said to be open to a switch, provided United qualify for the Champions League next season.

Finally, the Daily Mirror claims that Mourinho is "set to make a shock move for Everton contract rebel Ross Barkley".

The midfielder has been in the news for all the wrong reasons of late, but the Mirror says that the United boss wants to offer Barkley the chance of a fresh start next season at Old Trafford.

Everton are coming round to the idea of selling the 23-year-old, with manager Ronald Koeman recently giving him an ultimatum – sign a new £100,000 a week deal or pack your bags.

Spurs were at one stage said to be interested in Barkley but the Mirror says Mourinho is "prepared to shell out big money" for the playmaker.

Man Utd transfer news: Toni Kroos the price for David de Gea

13 April

Real Madrid must offer up midfielder to get their hands on United keeper - latest Man Utd transfer news and gossip

The Red Devils have named their price for David de Gea - and his name is Toni Kroos.

According to The Sun, United "will only allow" their Spanish gloveman to join Real Madrid if they get Kroos in return, a player that they've been coveting for a while.

The Sun claims that United gaffer Jose Mourinho is "planning a midfield overhaul in the summer" as Michael Carrick comes to the end of his illustrious career and German international Kroos is top of his wishlist. So he's going to give Real gaffer Zinedine Zidane his ultimatum at the end of the season.

De Gea almost moved to the Bernabeu in 2015, only for the deal to fall through at the last moment, and the Sun says that the Special One is taking his "hard-line approach" because he knows how much they want the goalkeeper. The Daily Express says that de Gea's girlfriend has been back in Madrid recently looking at property, increasing speculation that he's preparing to leave Old Trafford in a matter of weeks.

There have also been suggestions that Mourinho is irritated at the rumours linking de Gea to Real, and when asked about the possibility of a move, he snapped: "End of season is the time where players can be thinking about what is going to happen with their careers."

Serge Aurier is weighing up his options at Paris Saint-Germain and that's encouraged United in their quest to sign the 24-year-old defender, reports Metro. The paper says that the full-back is "mulling over a new deal" in the City of Love after he fell behind Belgian Thomas Meunier in the pecking order. PSG coach Unai Emery has gone with Meunier for much of this season and Aurier is in search of more game time.

France Football publication claims United are leading the chase to land the former Toulouse blocker, although Liverpool, Manchester City and Barcelona have all sent their scouts to PSG in recent weeks to check on Aurier's progress on the few occasions he's graced the Parc des Princes.

Man Utd transfer news: £30m for striker Dries Mertens

12 April

United's scouts have been out in force in recent days as Jose Mourinho looks to bring in fresh blood next season after his first campaign was marked by mediocrity.

According to the Daily Express United had their spies in Italy at the weekend to check out Napoli frontman Dries Mertens in action against Lazio. The Belgium international has been filling the boots of Gonzalo Higuain with aplomb this season, scoring 26 goals as Napoli look to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Mourinho is "keen to bolster his attacking options" in the summer after a season in which he's relied heavily on the goal-scoring instinct of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Mertens is believed to have a £30m release clause in his contract and the Express predicts that won't be a problem for Mourinho.

And according to the International Business Times United scout Toni Lima was in attendance at the Cornella El Prat Stadium at the weekend to see Espanyol's 1-0 victory over Alaves. Why was he there? To run the rule over Aaron Martin, of course, who in recent months has been linked with Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Spanish rag Mundo Deportivo claims that United want to beat their rivals to the prize with Mourinho rating the 19-year-old left-back one of the most exciting defenders in Europe. He won't come cheap, however, with the IBT reporting that in January Espanyol "tied him down with a new long-term deal that expires in 2022" and if United do want to take Martin to Old Trafford it will cost them £25.5m.

Man Utd transfer news: Mega Neymar deal could still be on

11 April

Barcelona chief says United 'have a chance' of signing Brazil superstar - latest Man United transfer news and gossip

Sources in Spain have given the clearest indication yet that Neymar could be ready to leave Barcelona in the summer, and that is good news for Manchester United.

Rumours emerged last month linking the Red Devils with the Brazilian frontman and the Manchester Evening News brings the news from Spain that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes "they have a chance of getting it done".

United gaffer Jose Mourinho has always rubbished the idea of a deal for Neymar, saying it would be like "breaking open a safe". But apparently Neymar is fearful of what the future holds for him and Barcelona once manager Luis Enrique departs in the summer, and he will look to move to Old Trafford at the end of this season.

According to the MEN, despite Mourinho's best efforts to downplay the Neymar rumours, "United have not stopped their pursuit of the forward and are one of the few teams who could afford his transfer fee and wages".
