Man Utd transfer news: Renato Sanches to quit Bayern Munich
The teenager has failed to make an impact in his first season in Germany and says he wants to 'change clubs'
United are on "red alert", says The Sun after Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches said he wanted to leave Bayern Munich a year after he arrived in Germany with high hopes and great expectations.
The 19-year-old prodigy failed to make much of an impact in his first season, but he has been on Jose Mourinho's shopping list for a while and there were rumours at the end of last season that he was going to have a crack at prising the young playermaker from Bayern.
The Special One will therefore be delighted to read comments made by Sanches in conversation with German rag Bild. Asked how he rated his first season with the German champions having joined in a massive €80m deal last summer from Benfica, he replied: "Personally, I am not satisfied with my first year in Munich. Of course, I'd like to play more."
Warming to his task, the temperamental teenager then said: "That's why I would like to change and go to a club that can give me more minutes."
Asked about a possible destination, Sanches said that AC Milan "is an interesting option" but the Sun believes he's more likely to head to Old Trafford with United ready to pay whatever Bayern demand.
Mourinho may get his man, but very little makes him happy these days. So it is easy to imagine the United boss griping about the fee after he complained about the "crazy" sums being paid this summer for players who have yet to establish themselves.
"The problem is with the other group [the lower-bracket players], which is a big group," he told the Daily Mirror. "Players like Pogba, there are one or two big transfers per transfer window. The other is where you have 100 transfers and, for me, that's the dangerous area of the market.... that's what worries me a little bit, because now we speak about £30m, £40m or £50m in such an easy way."
Meanwhile Talksport reports that United's hopes of landing Radja Nainggolan are receding with the Belgian ace poised to sign a new deal with Roma. United and Chelsea have both been after the midfielder but according to Italian journal Il Messaggero, the 29-year-old has decided to snub interest from England, and also Inter Milan, by penning a new contract that will be officially announced this week.
