Fears grow that Jose Mourinho will quit United for PSG

Fears are growing at Old Trafford that Jose Mourinho will quit Manchester United in the summer to take over at Paris St Germain.

Mourinho is almost halfway through a £45 million three-year deal but according to The Sun is considering jumping the ship early.

“There is an increasingly belief among the Old Trafford top brass that their manager is ready to quit next summer and take over the filthy-rich French outfit.

“While the official line from Mourinho’s camp is that their man is committed to United, senior sources are alarmed at the way he has openly flirted with the Qatar-funded club. The fear among United’s hierarchy is that, despite his immensely self-confident persona, Mourinho fears he cannot compete with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City – either this season or in the future.”

Rumours that Mourinho was interested in the PSG job first surfaced when he showered praise on the Ligue 1 outfit in an interview on French television last month when he also stated he would not finish his career at United.

The Portuguese led United to League Cup and Europa League success in his first season at Old Trafford but they already trail runaway Premier League leaders City by eight points.

Mourinho would like to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window in a bid to close the gap on Guardiola’s men and the Daily Mail suggests the speculation may be a ploy to leverage more funds.

“Guardiola's side are the early pace-setters in the English top flight this term and Mourinho feels he does not have the resources to outstrip his city counterparts.

“The United boss is demanding more money from his current employers to splash in the next transfer market — despite already forking out £300million since taking the reins at Old Trafford in 2016.”
