Celebrities are pushing up the prices of meteorites as the rocks become popular among the rich and famous. Elon Musk, Steven Spielberg and Nicolas Cage are just some of those who collect the galactic goodies. Christie’s is putting 75 of them on sale this month as part of the Deep Impact: Martian, Lunar and Other Rare Meteorites auction. They are expected to sell for between £180,000 and £250,000.
Mayan apocalypse ‘may be this year’
Apocalypse theorists are speculating that 2021 will be the year at the world ends because of a mix-up over an ancient theory. Many were convinced when the Mayans foretold that the world would end in 2012 - but now there’s a new theory that the ancient people really meant 2021. One online speculator said: “Hear me out, what if the guy who made the Mayan calendar was dyslexic and the world is supposed to end in 2021 not 2012?”
Wallet returned after 53 years
A man has finally got his wallet back - 53 years after he lost it in Antarctica. Paul Grisham, 91, of San Diego, arrived in Antarctica in 1967 as a Navy meteorologist. He lost his wallet during his 13-month assignment but it turned up last week. “I was just blown away,” Grisham told The San Diego Union-Tribune. “There was a long series of people involved who tracked me down and ran me to ground.”
