Life’s greatest ‘little wins’ revealed

Slipping into fresh bedding, receiving an unexpected pay rise at work and being served first at the bar are among life’s little victories, according to a poll of 2,000 Britons. The list of 50 little wins also includes finding money down the back of the sofa, arriving at a packed car park just as another driver leaves and being allowed to leave work early. A researcher said: “It’s interesting to see that achieving even one little victory is enough to make anyone’s day better.”

Petition calls for hot dog parity

A food giant has started a petition to make hot dogs and buns come in equal packs. In a new video, Heinz Ketchup Canada says hot dogs often come in packs of ten, while hot-dog buns typically come in eights. In its online petition, the company urges “Big Bun” and “Big Wiener” to join forces and sell both in packs of ten.

Teen rescued from Cornwall hole

A teenager had to be rescued from a hole he dug on the beach after it collapsed on him. Emergency services were called by the coastguard to Fistral Beach in Cornwall where they found the man trapped in a hole he had dug in the sand. “Please don't dig huge holes in the sand, sand is partial to collapse and the dry weight is around a ton per metre cubed,” said Newquay Community Fire Station.
