A man who complained of stomach pains was found to have a mobile phone lodged inside his stomach. The patient at Aswan University Hospital in the south of Egypt then stunned doctors by admitting that he had swallowed the device six months ago but had been too embarrassed to admit himself to hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Crusader’s sword discovered in sea
A sword that is believed to have belonged to a crusader who sailed to the Holy Land almost a millennium ago has been recovered from the Mediterranean seabed. The Israel Antiquities Authority said an amateur diver spotted the metre-long blade after currents shifted sands that had concealed it. The sword, believed to be about 900 years old, will be put on display after it has been restored.
Couple float to wedding in a cooking pot
A couple in India arrived for their wedding after sailing through the flooded streets of their town in a cooking pot. The newlyweds squeezed inside the aluminium vessel and were paddled down the flooded streets of the southern state of Kerala. “It has turned into a wedding which we never imagined,” the bride told local news channel Asianet.
