Hotel workers fed up with stinging feedback from guests have begun sharing their bugbears about customer behaviour online. “Men (it is only men) who make no attempt to cover up — even though we provide robes — when answering the door to their room-service,” groaned one long-suffering staff member. Others complained that visitors steal batteries from remote controls and refill minibar miniatures with water.

Security forces in Egypt have detained an artist robot named Ai-Da. The drawing droid has been described as “a vision of the future” who is every bit as good as other abstract artists today. But amid fears that she is part of a wider espionage plot, both Ai-Da and her sculpture have been held in Egyptian customs for 10 days.

The actor Morgan Freeman has helped interview police recruits in a town in Alabama. The 84-year-old actor helped to question nine potential recruits for the Gulf Shore Police Department, reported Sky News. Deputy Chief Dan Netemeyer said the actor’s presence at the job interviews “was kind of a last-minute thing, but he was an active participant”.
