George Best ‘haunts ex-wife’s home’
And other stories from the stranger side of life
George Best’s ex-wife believes that her former husband’s ghost is haunting her Surrey home. “I’m convinced spirits have come to visit my 200-year-old house, and now I think George could have been one of them,” Alex Best said. A team of paranormal professionals were enlisted to help her discover the truth for new discovery+ TV show Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted. The team reportedly witnessed spooky goings-on incuding a book shooting off a shelf that turned out to be the late footballer’s authorised biography.
Lost dog lured to safety by sausages
When a Jack Russell dog was spotted on marshland near Portsmouth after going missing last Thursday, a Hampshire search and rescue team was called in to save the day. They used two drones to dangle sausages from pieces of string, which lured the dog to safer ground away from the high tide. The team then lit a barbeque and the dog followed the scent before reaching safety. Her owner said: “At least now we know how to entice her back if she goes missing again: sausages.”

Reporter hit by car but carries on with story
A reporter who was struck by a car during a live TV broadcast in the US reacted by standing up and finishing her report. Tori Yorgey of West Virginia’s WSAZ-TV was getting ready to report on a water main break when an SUV appeared in the shot and slammed into her, causing her camera to topple to the ground. “Oh my god! I just got hit by a car, but I’m okay,” she said. Yorgey then picked up the camera and lights, and went on to finish her report.
