Baby boomers have a bigger carbon footprint than other generations, according to a new study. Researchers found that the over-60s accounted for 5% of greenhouse gas emissions in 2005 and by 2015 the proportion had grown to 33%. Boomers, who were born between 1946 and 1965, are the most likely age group to take overseas holidays, live in large houses and spend big on cars, said The Times.

Loch Ness monster ‘anti-Scottish’

Pupils at secondary schools in Scotland are to be taught that the Loch Ness Monster is anti-Scottish, claimed the Daily Mail. Social studies students will be taught the theory of how Nessie is a symbol of England’s domination of Scotland – highlighting stereotypes and bias. The classes, which are designed to help 11 to 14-year-olds “recognise persuasion and bias,” have been described as “brainwashing” by critics.

Pub launches ‘ploughperson’s’ lunch

A pub in Devon has updated the ploughman’s lunch by offering a “ploughperson’s” lunch in its place. The Tors pub consists of the traditional ingredients associated with the conventional ploughman’s lunch – cheese, pickled onions, chutney and bread – but the name has been made gender-neutral. Dicky Harrison, the landlord of the pub, told The Telegraph: “The menu item was just meant as a bit of tongue in cheek.”
