Builder finds note from 1940s
A builder carrying out restorations to a church roof discovered a handwritten note dating back to 1941 offering advice to the future generation. The worker, at St. James’ Church in Antwerp, Belgium, found a matchbox delicately placed inside of an ornament hanging from the towering ceiling, The Mirror reported. Inside was a note saying: “I want to advise the next generations for when another war comes along. Have a sufficient amount of food in excess like rice, coffee, flour, tobacco, grains, wheat, to keep you alive.”
Man wins jackpot in lottery he didn’t know he had entered
A US man won a $100,000 jackpot on the lottery without even being aware that he had entered. The 58-year-old told lottery officials he used the lottery’s app to scan a few non-winning $300,000,000 tickets without realising he was setting himself up for a jackpot. “I never read the back of the ticket, so I didn’t know that by scanning them, I earned entries into a giveaway,” he told UPI. The man said he plans to use his winnings to help his family.
